- Waterproof walking boots that are already broken in.
- Long trousers and long sleeves against nettles and thorns, and gardening gloves for gripping vines.
- A light rain jacket; it can rain in any month.
- Gaiters, or socks tucked over trousers, against mud and ants.
- A small daypack with water, snacks and a rain cover for your camera.
- A camera without flash; flash is not allowed with the gorillas.
Walking sticks are handed out at the briefing, and hiring a porter helps both you and the local community.
What did you pack that you were glad of, or wished you'd left behind?
