A base on the Nile
Baker's Lodge sits on the south bank of the Victoria Nile inside Murchison Falls National Park, a short drive from the Paraa ferry that carries vehicles to the game-drive country of the north bank. It takes its name from Samuel Baker, the explorer who reached the falls in 1864 and named them after Sir Roderick Murchison of the Royal Geographical Society.
We use it on our 3-Day Murchison Falls Luxury Safari because its position solves the park's main logistics problem: you can be on the first ferry for the morning game drive and back at the lodge for lunch before the afternoon launch to the falls.

Which bank of the Nile is Baker's Lodge on?
The south bank, close to Paraa. Game drives on the north bank start with the short ferry crossing.
How far is Baker's Lodge from Kampala?
Most of a day by road: the drive through Masindi takes about five to six hours without stops, or longer if you stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Flights from Entebbe land at Pakuba airstrip, across the river.
